my life in 2021 … x-axis = dates , y-axis = busy/lazyness

4 main highlight in 2021

  • Job Search : June 2020 — March 2021
  • Quitting my job : April 2021
  • Starting a new job : May 2021
  • Moving into a new house : September 2020 — September 2021

The chart above highlights my major life event in 2021 thus the lack of writing here. If I’m being honest with myself, the main reason is I got complacent with life and just stop working on things.

Usually, I’ll write a few ideas on point forms but never really spend time to organize the thought and procrastination will seep into my head, telling me, “ make it perfect first”. That usually didn’t happen thus end up not executing anything :(

2022: “Let publishing this and get it out there”

“just do it”

“There isn’t a need to be perfect”

2022 goal on Medium is to continue sharing practical ways of using Excel, PowerQuery, PowerBI and expand on exploring a career path toward data analytics/scientist.

For the next few post, I will be sharing how I get to my current career path as an Analytics Product Owner and Lead Data Scientist. My next post will be on my job search process from 2020 — to 2021.

Is a good topic to visit, seeing so many headlines recently about “The great resignation” . This could be useful for anyone out there looking for a next career move.

  • Why I decided to leave my current role (back then), with amazing colleagues, working culture, and comfort zone
  • How I send out resumes and prepare for interviews
  • Why do I reject some big names, job titles and how I evaluated my options
  • Why I took up my current offer and what it means to me and my career

Before going into details, these are the main highlights of my job search journey back from 2020–to 2021

These are the main highlight from my job search:

10x5 save tabs every day from various job sites [start from 2020 June until 2021 Feb]

2–3 applications sent per day

1 interview every 2 weeks, from Oct 2020 and 0 activities during December

2–3 interviews every day (inclusive 2nd rounds) from Jan — March

4 job offers from Feb — March and rejected 2 offers

1 selected between 2 offers

Stay tuned for more details on how I plan my job search, career path and interview strategies
